Fourth of July has always been of my favorite holidays. When I was a child, the whole family would climb into our Rambler station wagon and head over to the main street in Gloucester Massachusetts. We would line up along the curb and stand in the hot sun, waiting with great delight for the hometown floats to drive by. They would throw out candy and firecrackers to the crown. The Marching bands, with their rat a tat drum beats would get us all dancing. I love Fourth of July.

When we lived in Dana Point, our entire Danawoods neighborhood would host block parties on each of the cul de sacs, and then, when darkness came, we would head over the side of the neighborhood overlooking the field where fireworks were set off. On a really clear night we could also see the Dana Point fireworks, San Juan Capistrano fireworks, and San Clemente’s display off in the distance. It was magical and we didn’t have to get in the car and fight the Orange County traffic to have a great time.
Now we are here in Vero Beach, and we head to a park, late afternoon, set up our lawn chairs, munch on some cheese and crackers, and watch the fireworks here.
I still can’t help myself. When those fireworks go off up in the sky, a big “ooooo” escapes from my lips.
So, once again, Happy Fourth of July, from the social cindy family to yours!!
